My first half-marathon at age 55, but definitely not my last!!! I’m hooked for life, and can’t wait until next year’s event. The support and organization were fabulous!!! My daughter who offered advice said those last two miles would be the toughest. My inspiration was knowing despite the limited mobility of some of your clients, they continue to push on, usually with a smile on their faces. As special education director for a school district in MS, I see those smiles regularly on the faces of kiddos who would give anything to be able to run 10 feet, much less 13.1 miles. Kuddos to this wonderful charity event, and may you push forward with many many more.
Wow! Thank you!! Congratulations on completing your first 1/2 marathon! We’re honored you chose us. Thank you for your sweet comments and you are correct. The children we see inspire us each day. It’s why we are here. We hope to see you next year!
God bless!
Just wanted you to know that this was an outstanding race. It’s going down as my favorite small town race. This was the 15th state I’ve run in my goal towards running a 1/2 in every state. The organization, signs, water stations, food, free massage, and especially the volunteers were all wonderful. Thank you very much!
Thank you! We love our children. They inspire us daily so we thought they’d be the perfect motivation for our runners. Glad you enjoyed them. Hope to see you next year!
Had a lot of fun. This was my first race (5k) since I took up running in May. Did a lot better then I thought I would. I will be running the Music City 1/2 marathon in April here in Nashville. I will be back in Florence next fall to give the 1/2 there a go. Love you. The people who put it together did an awesome job.
This was a well organized run and benefited a GREAT cause. I drove down from Green Bay WI, and did not expect to see my first frost of the season in Alabama! I loved running across the Wheeler Bridge and enjoying the view.
We agree. That weather came a bit too soon for us as well. Thank you so much for traveling to our event! We are very grateful and would love to have you back next year!
My first half marathon and I must say, it was a lot of fun. I found out how tough I am and will come back next year to beat my time. Thanks for putting on such a great race!
I finished my first half with my daughter in 2010. It was tough and I said never again. This year will be my 4th in a row! has become my favorite run.Ferrell Dawson
Great race, great weather, great scenery! Support crew was excellent! A PR for me and tuneup for my first full marathon (at 61) in Memphis Dec 7. Thanks to everyone who volunteered.
Had a great time as usual. This is the fourth time my wife and I have run this race. We think it is the best half Marathon in North Alabama. One small complaint about this year is that there was in issue with the chip timing for my wife and her results are not actually posted. Her name appears in the results with the correct bib number but the finishing time is about 20 minutes before she actually crossed the finish line. I can give you more details if you want to email me. Thanks.
Chris did you ever get this worked out? I’m sorry for the mix up. We’ve had technical issues with this site..Please let me know if I can assist you in any way and we hope you come back this year!
